Amsterdam Alternative Protein Summit 2019 Kicks off at Nemo Science Museum
The KindEarth.Tech’s Alternative Protein show kicked off its three day summit in Amsterdam on the 26th of August 2019. The summit brought the industry’s most promising doers and startups together under one of the most inspiring and related spaces in Amsterdam: Nemo Science Museum.
Among a long list of industry movers in the alternate proteins space, the proceedings were initiated by Lisa Dyson, CEO of Kiverdi, whose company is working towards transforming carbon-dioxide, hydrogen and carbon monoxide to make useful proteins, oils and other bio-based products
Sandhya Sriram of Shiok Meats inspired the audience with her journey, from leaving her job at A*Star as a stem cell scientist to getting to 4.6 million USD seed funding round in less than a year, to updates on upcoming test factory facility, to positive regulatory reactions in Singapore and next rounds of capital raising. Other key presenters included Didier Toubia, the CEO of Aleph Farms, working towards lab-grown steaks and bovine meat and Pete Rowe, the CEO and co-founder of Deep Branch Biotechnology, working towards industrialising sustainable feed proteins and adapting the technology foreman consumption.
The event was catered by Claudia Deken and her Amsterdam-based company VEGAN SUSHI, presenting a wide array of vegan food products with their signature sushi dishes taking the centre stage.
